About 15 years ago I even started trying to develop a Radio control lawn mower. I determined that a remote control lawn mower must be powerful enough to mow the grass and also must have a powerful propulsion system. I looked into using electrical servos or pneumatic or hydraulic actuators for steering the lawn mower wheels. I ran into the problem that the operating time would be limited by the life of on board batteries. The remote control lawn mower would have to be stopped and the batteries recharged.

Additionally, I determined that the cutter blades would have to be powered by a gasoline engine in order to cut through heavy dense grass. Electric motors driven by on board batteries would have to spin small high speed blades and would have a hard time mowing through grass that was long and wet. Also the on board batteries would also be quickly drained with by the electric motors.

For years I was perplexed. Then I discovered a remote controlled mower that solved these problems. The remote control mower uses a hybrid system providing a brilliant solution to all the problems.

The mower combines a powerful gas engine to spin the cutting blade with an electical drive and electrical generator/battery system. The traction and steering wheels are driven by high power reversible direction motors that are powered by the generator/battery system. The battery is continuously charged by the on board generator driven by the gas motor. Therefore, the battery does not run out of charge.

Additionally, the remote control mower has a very smart controller system (The BRAIN) that constantly motors and controls the electrical propulsion and charging system.

I used to hate mowing the lawn manually every two days during the growing season, but now I cannot wait to go run my remote control mower. It is so fun finding the fastest ways to mow the lawn. On really hot days I can sit in my airconditioned house and look out a window to operate the mower. I also enjoy watching other guys sweating out there with their manual mowers.
